Requirements for good lake basin management.

 



Experiences learned indicates that good lake basin management requires six necessary component for effective management response:

  1.  Institutions - to manage the lake and its basins for the benefit of all lake basin resource uses;
  2.  Policies -to govern people’s use of lake resources and their impacts on lakes; 
  3. Involvement of people central to lake basin management;
  4.  Technological possibilities and limitations exist in almost all cases; 
  5. Knowledge both of a traditional and scientific nature is valuable;
  6. Sustainable finances to fund all of the above activities are essential.
